FESTIVE ART COUTURE
12 December 2011
Jingling things up again, Langham Place, Mongkok, Hong Kong, celebrates the festive season in artistic style. With five of its iconic art pieces dressed in Santa’s favourite couture, the hotel’s signature pieces have been framed in stylish, red acrylic seasonal winter-ware to showcase their wow factor. Decked out for the month of December, guests have the chance to get up close and personal with the playful collection, originated and designed by in-house Art Director, Henry Wong. “My concept of Art Xmas resonates with one of our core brand messages to foster inspiration and creativity through art. I wanted to echo our love for vibrant art with a cheeky take on Santa’s favourite apparel”.
Glamming things up further, Henry has designed a tableware installation hanging from the 23 foot ceiling over all-day-dining restaurant, The Place, baubles and brushes thoughtfully placed in glossy red vases throughout the hotel, and chic, translucent hanging octagons in its sleek executive club lounge, Club L. Perhaps the most eye-catching of all is the hotel’s rendition on the Louvre art museum, mirroring as the hotel’s grand Christmas tree as the lobby’s main centerpiece, complete with twinkling star inside, also crafted by Henry. Returning to the stage and weighing in at over 100kg is Executive Pastry Chef Teddy Arcon’s architecturally-cool, 7 foot gingerbread hotel, a must-see (and bite) for all guests. Collaborated amongst the hotel’s engineering and pastry teams, the gingerbread hotel will be on display at the entrance to The Place restaurant on level L until 31 December 2011… making for no ordinary gingerbread house!
