BE STIMULATED IN MOTION
LANGHAM PLACE, MONGKOK, HONG KONG PRESENTS THE INVIGORATING "FLUTTER"

Dynamic lifestyle hotel, Langham Place, Mongkok, Hong Kong, unveiled last night at an exclusive art soirée, its showcase interactive new media art piece, “Flutter”, for the first time ever in Hong Kong. Consisting of 88 monitors mounted as double-sided video fins protruding from a front surface monistic, Flutter interacts with on-going, fascinating motion.

As part of the hotel’s ever-evolving Art-in-Residence signature, the tech-smart installation is curated by Input/Output Gallery and designed by award-winning art architect Dominic Harris of Cinimod Studio in London, UK, which explores the viewer’s encounter with a rabble of virtual butterflies. Set within a striking architectural framework, “Flutter” makes use of cutting edge technology and is a product of the artist’s on-going fascination with the motion of a butterfly’s flight and the iridescent reflections and scattering of light by the scales on a butterfly’s wing. By reaching out your hand, a flying butterfly will respond. In playing with the butterflies, more intricate behaviours will be uncovered.

Input/Output Gallery has raised the awareness of new media and interactive art in Hong Kong within the context of a serious contemporary art setting, making Langham Place, Mongkok, Hong Kong, the ideal, vibrant gallery to house the installation.
