Using EarthCheck annual assessment figures the below graphs look at our results, the results of other hotels and the best practice benchmark recommended by EarthCheck.

The EarthCheck Programme is used by more travel and tourism organisations than any other around the world. It validates environmental efforts and provides guidance with sustainability initiatives.

The results below show how we’re doing.

OVER THE LAST 12 MONTHS:

ENERGY CONSUMPTION
Our average energy consumption was 237MJ per guest night. This was a much better performance than both EarthCheck’s best practice recommendation of 336MJ per guest night and the hotel industry average of 480MJ per guest night.

WATER CONSUMPTION
With 509 litres of water used per guest night, we used less water than EarthCheck’s best practice recommendation of 630 litres per guest night and came in well under the 900 litres of water per guest night, which is the industry average.

WATER SAVINGS
EarthCheck provides each hotel a mark out of 100 points based on your initiatives to reduce water wastage – the higher the better. We scored 86 points. EarthCheck’s best practice recommendation is 80 points meanwhile the industry average is 50.

RECYCLING
Once again this is based on points out of 100 given by EarthCheck, the higher the better. We achieved 84 points. EarthCheck’s best practice recommendation is 80 points meanwhile the industry average is 50.
